Albion, Rose Hall in T20 Final
Albion Community Centre and Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets (RHTG&G) won their semi-final games on Sunday, thereby earning their places in the final of the Berbice Cricket Board/Namilco T20 cricket competition.
Playing at the Albion Community Centre ground, the hosts breezed past a disappointing Universal Solutions Bermine by ten wickets, while RHTG&G defeated a determined West Berbice by six wickets. In the first game, Universal Solutions Bermine were bundled out for a paltry 38 in 14.2 overs.
Discarded West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo was the wrecker-in-chief with five wickets for eight runs in 3.2 overs and was ably supported by West Indies Under-19 left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, who ended with 4-4 from his four overs. In reply, the hosts reached 42 without loss from 7.2 overs with Balchan Baldeo and Adrian Sukhwa finishing on 22 and 15 respectively.
In the other semi-final, West Berbice won the toss and elected to bat first. They were limited to 105-7 from their allotted overs with Raffiel Estriado top-scoring with 23. Steffon Adams (21), Keith Fraser (10) and Keon Joseph (13*) were the other batsmen to reach double figures. Royston Crandon took 3-13 from his four overs, while West Indies Test player Assad Fudadin supported with 2-19.
RHTG&G overhauled the target of 106 in 18.3 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Fudadin top-scored with 37 (5x4s) and received valuable support from Clinton Pestano, who made 28 not out.
The final and third place playoff are scheduled for Sunday at the Albion Community Centre ground. West Berbice and Universal Solutions Bermine will clash from 09:00 hours, while the final will start at 13:30 hours.
The winning team will receive $200,000, the runner-up $100,000, while the third and fourth place finishers will collect $50,000 and $25,000 respectively.
