Albion Win 4-Team Fundraiser
Albion defeated Skeldon Community Centre in a fundraiser match held at the No 69 ground on Sunday Feb 13.
Albion, who were without the services of their two injured Test players Sewnarine Chattergoon and Narsingh Deonarine, West Indies A players Devendra Bishoo and Veerasammy Permaul, who are on duty with the Guyana senior team and Jonathon Foo, who is on a contract with Diamond Cricket Club in Trinidad, still managed to claim victory over Skeldon by 10 wickets in the final.
The final was reduced to 5 overs per side due to weather conditions. Albion won the toss and invited Skeldon to take first strike.
Some excellent bowling from Albion’s Harrinarine Chattergoon, who took 1 wicket for 3 runs in 1 over, and 16-year-old Goudakesh Motie, who took 3 for 3 in 1 over, restricted Skeldon to 36 for 7 in the allotted overs. Batting for Skeldon, Guyana wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble finished with 19 runs. No other batsman got into double figures.
In reply, Albion’s chase was set up by CCC star Ramnarine Chattergoon, who belted 2 power sixes and 3 fours to ensure Albion won with 1.4 overs to spare. Harrinarine Chattergoon finish with 6 not out.
In the early matches, Albion defeated Upper Corentyne, while Skeldon trashed Young warriors.
