Bakewell/ MYO Inter Jamaat Softball
When play in the Bakewell sponsored Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) organized Inter Jamaat 15-overs softball cricket competition continued on Sunday last at the MYO Ground, Woolford Avenue, there were wins for LBI ‘A’, Farm ‘B’ and Queenstown Masjids.
Providence took to the crease first against LBI ‘A’ and were bowled out for 74 in 12.1 overs; extras topped all batters with 20. Doing the damage with the ball were Shaheed Abdool 4-17 and Shameer Rahaman, 3-11.
LBI ‘A’ in reply found the going tough but were able to muster the fortitude to sneak home by one wicket with 6-balls to spare. Safraz Khan led with 21 runs while the leading bowler for Providence was Roy Khan with 3 wickets.
Farm B took first strike against Wales and made 125 all out in 15 overs; Ralph Layne stroked 44 and Avinash Singh 33.
Imran Khan had 3-34 for Wales who in reply were restricted to 108 all out; Feroze Ali 23 and Fizul Khan 21 were the main scorers. Bowing for Farm ‘B’, Zaman Ali took 3-16 and Ralph Layne 2-21. Queenstown Masjid won via the walk over route from Mocha Arcadia.
Matches will continue this Sunday at the same venue when the brothers from De Edward village in Berbice are expected to play back to back matches.
