Chanderpaul Slams 147 in US
At a time when the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) seems to have terminated the services of veteran batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul from One-Day cricket, the left-hander is proving that there still is a lot of runs left in his bat as he spanked a belligerent, unbeaten 147 in the United States last weekend.
The 36-year-old former West Indies captain blasted 18 fours and six towering sixes from just 68 deliveries to power Sarasota International Cricket Club (SICC) to a commanding 275-3 from the allotment of 30 overs. Ryan Ramnarine picked up 2-55 for Everest XI, who were dismissed for 182. Steven Taylor’s 113 was in vain, while Ramnarine supported with 17. Bowling for SICC, Clinton Goodchild picked up 3-39.
After his entertainment and heroics with the bat, Chanderpaul, the former world number one ranked Test batsman spent quality time with the large crowd, signing autographs and posing for a few pictures.
