The second weekend closed with some 190 matches completed and a highest individual score of 135 not out by Ricknauth Rooplall, which included some 19 sixes and 2 fours and in partnership with Chris Patadin, who slammed 48 in an entertaining partnership, worth 200 runs representing Better Hope XI.
They took the life out of the opposition in Combine Warriors and also entered the record books with an individual highest score and also a highest team score of 218-3 in 10 overs. The opposition were bundled out for 58 in 8 overs. This game was played at Ogle community Ground in the Lower East Coast zone.
In the same zone and also at the same ground the lowest score was achieved by Enterprise young Achievers-3 who were demolished for seven runs against their very own village team Enterprise Young Achievers-2 with bad running between the batsmen resulting in 7 run outs.
In other zones like Essequibo, the games were very exciting as one game was decided by the super over and another by 1 run, while others were won by small margins. Teams progressing are Cullen SC, Die Hard Brothers and Endeavour in the south and in the north Windsor Castle cricket team, Affiance Storm and Virgin Gladiators were the victorious teams.
In Linden where the rain wreck havoc on Saturday, but games were able to be played at Bayrock Ground Sunday and teams Like Classic Cricket Team, Canvas City Tigers and Wismar United were able to progress.
In Georgetown and East Bank, matches which were rescheduled were played and teams like Courts, Supernova and Gem’s XI were able to achieve wins. Some teams achieved walkovers as others failed to show. The match between DCC Dynamites and Gem’s XI was the highlight of this zone as Gem’s XI prevailed after the scores were tied and went down to a super over where Gem’s XI prevailed and go through to the next round.
Meanwhile, fixtures are out in the print media and the various grounds will be humming as the tournament continues throughout the country.
