DCB AGM At Lusignan Today
After weeks of heated debate in the press, two factions of the Demerara Cricket Board will contest the annual election today from 17:00h at the Lusignan Sports Club.
The incumbent Bissoondyal Singh and Vice-president Anand Sanasie are vying for the top post. However, both camps have been accusing each other of several wrongdoings and that has put the election under some cloud of controversy. It was even reported in another section of the media that the Annual General Meeting will take place at the Wales Community Centre ground from 14:00h today.
However, Singh last evening confirmed to Guyana Times Sport that the election is fixed for the Lusignan Sports Club auditorium this afternoon.
“You are hereby advised to disregard and ignore a Notice published on the 19th of January, 2011 and any other Notice, erroneously allocating the delegates and fixing the said meeting to take place on Saturday 22nd January, 2011 at the Wales Community Centre at 2.00pm,” Singh said in a release sent to this publication.
“The Annual General Meeting of the Demerara Cricket Board will be on Saturday, 22nd January 2011 at the Lusignan Community Centre Pavilion at 17:00h.” According to Singh, the number of delegates expected to vote are as follows: Georgetown Cricket Association 10; West Demerara Cricket Association 11; East Coast Cricket Board 16 and East Bank Demerara Cricket Association 10.
The last Executive Meeting of the Demerara Cricket Board was held in May 2010.
