DCC Are Brain Street Champs
Hosts Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) defeated GNIC by four wickets on Saturday to be crowned champions of the Georgetown Cricket Association Brain Street Cup Under-15 cricket competition at the DCC ground, Queenstown.
Batting first, GNIC mustered a meagre 81 all out in 33 overs with only Stephon Campbell (18), Tavin Singh (13) and Andrew Clifford (10) getting into double-figures. Bowling for DCC, Sagar Hetheramani was the pick of the bowlers with 3-9 from seven overs, with Ronnell Brandis (2-7) and Ashmead Nedd (2-12) offering support.
In reply, DCC coasted to victory at 83-6 in 30 overs with Man-of-the-Match Raymond Perez top-scoring with 32. Nedd made 12 not out. Clifford and Bashkar Yadram were the top bowlers for GNIC with 2-20 and 2-25 respectively.
