DCC Win Tropical Mist Pee Wee cricket
Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) defeated Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) by 83 runs to win the Georgetown Cricket Association’s Banks DIH sponsored Tropical Mist Pee Wee final on Thursday at Thirst Park.
Batting first, DCC made 234 runs at the end of their 20 overs with captain Shemar DeSouza leading the way with an unbeaten 25 runs. Bowling for GCC, Aravinda Gainder took 4- 6 from his two overs. In reply, GCC were limit ed to 151 runs. The GCC batsmen found it hard to score and once the first pair was dismissed they lost wickets frequently and fell out of contention.
The Most Valuable Player ( MVP) of the final was Xavier Smith of DCC who scored 20 runs and captured two wickets in the match. DeSouza was voted Best Batsman of the final with his mature knock of 25 not out.
Roger Harper, president of the Georgetown Cricket Association thanked Banks DIH for sponsoring the tournament, which attracted four teams from Georgetown. The former Guyana and West Indies all-rounder said that the match was played at a very high standard and he offered congratulations to both finalists.

Banks DIH Communications Manager Troy Peters said the match showcased some talented players who are the future of the game. He thanked the parents for showing interest in their children by at tending the match and offering support. Tropical Mist Brand Manager, Errol Nelson, presented the prizes to the outstanding players of the two competing teams, the umpires and the scorer.
Also present at the match were Banks DIH Outdoor Events Manager Mortimer Stewart, president of DCC Alfred Mentore, GCA Competitions Chairman Shaun Massiah, and vice-president of Cricket Development Neil Barry.
