Enmore And Farm Win
Defending champions Enmore started the year on a positive note after they defeated Grove in the Trophy Stall sponsored Muslim Youth Organisation of Guyana (MYO) 10-over Inter-Jamaat Tapeball cricket round-robin competition last Saturday at the MYO ground, Woolford Avenue. Also in winner’s row was Farm.
Enmore disposed of Grove by 3 wickets. Grove took first strike and was sent packing for a paltry 71 with Salman Ghanie, 12, being the only batsman going into double figures. In the bowling department for Enmore it was a collective effort, with skipper Reaz Yacoob and Yuvraj Ali taking three wickets each. Amir Khan also chipped in with 2 wickets. In reply Enmore hit off the required runs reaching 73-7 with 2 overs to spare. Amir Khan returned with the bat to strike 18. Bowling for Grove Ahmad Nizanudeen took 4 wickets.
Farm, playing against Mocha-Arcadia, compiled 95-5 after taking first strike, Ricky Sargan stroking 31 not out. Tariq Cave was the leading wicket-taker with 3 for 21 for Mocha Arcadia, who were restricted to 42 for 9 when the allotted 10 overs expired. Budhan Baksh and Hafiz Beharry had 3 wickets each to help restrict the opposition.
New Mosque got a walkover after Lusignan failed to turn up in the other match that was slated for Saturday.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s games between Queenstown and Bell West Canal #2 and LBI B vs Corneila Ida were washed out due to persistent rains. The competition continues this weekend.
