Enmore Out of MYO Competition
Defending champions Enmore are out of this year’s Muslim Youth Organisation of Guyana/Trophy Stall InterJamaat 10-over Tapeball round robin cricket competition after they were defeated by De Edward by 26 runs in the quarter-final played last Sunday at the M.Y.O. ground, Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
Batting first De Edward made 79 for 6 in their allotted 10 overs. Altaf Khan made 33 (2x4, 2x6) and was supported by Aftar Gani with 16 (2x4, 1x6). Bowling for Enmore Safraz Karim broke the back of the De Edward batting, picking up three wickets for 16 runs. Amir Khan and Reaz Yacoob picked up one wicket each.
Enmore in reply were skittled out for 53 in 8.3 overs. Christopher Surat who made 13 (2x6) and Stephen Joseph with (12) were the only batsmen in double figures. Bowling for De Edward, Aftar Gani had 4 for 8 runs, including a hat trick and was supported by Reaz Imam and Raymond Singh with two wickets each for 13 and 10 runs respectively.
The other quarter-final matches are schedule to be played on Sunday June 5, with Queenstown playing LBI ‘A’, Grove clash with LBI ‘B’, and Farm playing against MYO.
In the lone preliminary match played last Sunday, LBI ‘A’ defeated Grove by five runs. LBI ‘A’ took first strike and made 106 for 5 in their allotted 10 overs. Akram Ali made 37 (5x6) and M. Khan 20 (2x6). Bowling for Grove Ahmad Nizamudeen, Abdullah Nizamudeen, Shafeek Ishmail, Imtiaz Pooran and Naved Ali each picked up one wicket. Grove in reply could only manage 101 for 6 when their allotted overs expired. Azeem Azeez 30 (3x6) and Abdullah Nizamudeen with 22 (2x6) and (1x4) were the principle runs scorers. Bowling for LBI ‘A’ Shoaib Ali picked up 2 for 22 runs.
