Female WI Cricketers Honoured

June Ogle-Thomas and Tremaine Smartt, members of the Trophy Stall Angels softball team, were honoured by their teammates for their inclusion in the West Indies team on Monday at Uitvlugt.

Cricket gear and spending allowances were presented to the girls by Trophy Stall’s owner, Ramesh Sunich, while a silver/gold engraved cricket band was presented to Thomas, compliments of the team.

Demerara’s June Ogle-Thomas, who represents the Trophy Stall girl’s team in local softball competitions, is the lone newcomer in the West Indies 14-member squad, which is scheduled to play five One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals between January 10 and 24 in India.

The full squad reads: Merissa Aguilleira (Captain/Wicketkeeper), Anisa Mohammed (Vice-captain), Shemaine Campbelle (Wicketkeeper), Britney Cooper, Shanel Daley, Deandra Dottin, Pearl Etienne, Stacy Ann King, Subrina Munroe, Juliana Nero, June Ogle-Thomas, Shakera Selman, Tremaine Smartt, and Stefanie Taylor.

The squad is scheduled to arrive in Mumbai on January 3.
