Floodlight Defeat Brazilians At Soccer

Popular softball team Floodlights downed their softball bats and balls to take on the Brazilian miners at two games of soccer last Friday evening at the DCC Ground.

The first match which was held in honor of Ramchand Ragbeer, who was celebrating his 59th birthday, was a bruising encounter which saw the Brazilians edging Floodlight in the last two minutes, to win 6-5. Floodlight drew blood early in the first 10 minutes, but by half time it was 2-2. It was 5-5 with two minutes left in the match, before the Brazilians scored their sixth goal.

Ramchand Ragbeer, Rohan Boojraj, Jailall Deodass, Steve Narine, Ricky Deonarain and Surendra Nauth all came close in scoring their first goal. Kurt Alli, Floodlight Player-of-the-Match scored two goals, while Ronnie Sanmogan, Ronald Donald Francis and Arjune Badal scored one each. Diego Souza, the Brazilian Player-of-the-Match score three goals, while Abley Jefersen Reis, Anderson and Ernesto scored one each.

The second encounter had to be settled with a penalty shoot-out, in which Floodlights defeated the Brazilians 3-1.

On Friday April 12th, Floodlights will take on the Brazilian in softball cricket.
