Four Teams In Winners Row
Three teams recorded wins, while another gained a walkover when action in the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) Inter-Jamaat 10-over tapeball cricket competition continued on Sunday at the MYO ground, Woolford Avenue. Grove, MYO and Lusignan registered comfortable victories, while La Bonne Intention ‘A’ gained a walkover after Mocha failed to show up at the venue.
In the day’s opening game, Grove defeated Farm by 6 wickets. Batting first, Farm made 75-6 from their allotted overs with Yunus Mohamed top-scoring with 33. Shameer Hussain was the leading wicket-taker with 3-15. In reply, Grove coasted to 77-4 from 6.3 overs with Shafeez Azad scoring 23 not out and Muhammad Nizamudeen making 20. Ricky Sergeant was the pick of the bowlers for Farm with 2-14.
MYO thrashed New Mosque by 10 wickets. New Mosque’s 74-8 was built around 27 from Toney Ramjewan and Gittens, Azad Azeez, and Fazal Nazeem bagged 2 wickets each. Chasing 75 for victory, MYO blazed to 76-0 with 4 overs to spare with Shaheed Gittens and Zulficar Ali making 32 and 28 not out respectively.
In the third match, Lusignan secured an 8-wicket win over La Bonne Intention ‘B’ (LBI B). LBI B batted first and posted 84-7 with Fernando making 33 and Fizul Ali 19. Asif Ally was the pick of the bowlers with 3-20. Lusignan then knocked off the target (85-2) in 7 overs with Ally returning to score 25 and Javed Khan 39 not out.
