Guyana Defeat St Lucia

KARISHMA Ramharack and Tramaine Edwards took two wickets each to help the Board XI defeat Trinidad and Tobago by 20 runs in their TT Women’s Cricket Association (TTWCA) Regional Invitational T20 tournament which bowled off on Thursday.

In a match reduced to ten overs due to rain, TT won the toss and sent the Board X1 to bat at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain Couva. The TT second string team reached 59 for the loss of five wickets from their allotted overs with Katrice Hernandez making 26. Kamara Ragoobar grabbed two for ten.

In reply the first team failed to come to grips with the bowling and was eventually dismissed for a disappointing 39 in the final over. Ramharack had two for seven while Edwards had two for eight.

The Board XI had earlier in the day claimed a point after their match against St Lucia was abandoned. St Lucia inserted by their opponents reached 92 for eight when the rain came and as a result both teams were awarded a point.

Over at the Caldrac ground, Guyana defeated St Lucia by four wickets in a match reduced to 15 overs. St Lucia electing to take first strike made 63 for five off their overs with Narissa Carston 13 and Pauline Francis 12. Mandy Mungru had two for six and La Toya Smith one for 15.

In reply Guyana reached 64 for five in 13.3 overs. La Toya Smith led the way with 22 while Lashana Toussaint chipped in with an unbeaten 14. Nicole St Prix had two for six. The Guyanese were earlier in the day awarded a point after their first match against Barbados was also abandoned by rain.
