Harper Has To Be Consistent

Dear Sir,

I refer to an article in your edition of 7th March, 2011 by Sean Devers in which he quoted Mr. Roger Harper as saying that there should be some criteria for persons wishing to take leadership roles at the Guyana Cricket Board, as anyone can walk off the road and become an Administrator. Nice sounding words.

However, Mr. Harper may wish to be told that Mr. Bissoon Singh walked off the road with votes and became President of the East Coast Cricket Board. My information is that he brought no Administrative experience to the position as far as cricket boards are concerned. Not satisfied with that and without even settling in on the job, he ganged up with others and removed Harold Doc Dhanraj as President of the Demerara Cricket Board.

Many school boys and the Guyanese international cricketers know of Doc’s sacrifices and hard work at the GCC but he was crudely and unceremoniously kicked out by Mr. Singh and his friends.  Now Mr. Harper is the torch bearer of the said Bissoon Singh.

Mr. Harper, can you ask Mr. Bissoon Singh what he has done for East Coast Cricket or Demerara Cricket over the past three or four years and can you ask him about the facility at the GNIC ground?

Yours sincerely,

K. Beaton
