Jagan Memorial Softball At Enmore
As part of observances for the 16th death anniversary of former president of Guyana, Cheddi Jagan, the Sport Ministry and the National Sports Commission will be staging the inaugural 10/10 softball cricket competition for teams in Enmore on Sunday.
The matches will be played at the Enmore Community Centre ground, with action set to bowl off at 10:00h. According to organiser Rajan Tiwari, the first eight teams will be accepted and those interested need to assemble and register at the venue by 09:30h.
“We are not charging an entrance fee for the teams, so we want them to grab at this opportunity. We will play the preliminary games on Sunday, after which we will conclude with the semi-finals and final on March 24,” Tiwari mentioned.
Cash prizes and trophies will be up for grabs during the competition.
Tiwari added, “We are not charging an entrance fee to members of the public, so we’re encouraging them to come out in their numbers and witness these players in action, because at the end of the day what we want to create is a family atmosphere.”
More information on the competition can be obtained by calling Tiwari on 652-9570.
Similar competitions will be held in at the Affiance ground Essequibo and in Region Five later in the month.
