Berbice cricketers will get into competition mode for the new year when the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) with sponsorship from MD & Sons (Tariq) Grocery of Portuguese Quarter, Port Mourant unveils the 2011 season with the hosting of a three-team Twenty20 tournament at the No. 69 Ground tomorrow.

The teams would be led by Assad Fudadin, Royston Crandon and Sewnarine Chattergoon while several national players are expected to participate. The tournament starts at 09:30hrs with the winning team carting off the Rohan Kanhai Tribute to Heroes trophy and cash. BCB Public Relations Officer Hilbert Foster disclosed that the tournament will be played in tribute to Rohan Kanhai and all players selected must turn up to play since it is compulsory.

Players from New Amsterdam, East Bank Berbice and Canje areas are asked to be at Canje turn by 07:45 hours in their club (coloured) uniforms. West Berbice players and officials are expected at Palmyra by 08:00hrs, Albion players should be at the Albion bridge by 08:15hrs and those from Rose Hall Town and Port Mourant are asked to assemble at the Rose Hall Arch by 08:30hrs.

Representatives of the sponsor and Executives of the BCB will meet the teams before the start of the game.
