Metro Assists Shemaine Campbelle
Guyana and West Indies female cricketer, Shemaine Campbelle, received a donation of US$200 from official sponsor of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Female Cricket Team, Metro Office & Computer Supplies.
The presentation was done at the company’s New Amsterdam Branch by Regional Manager Avia Lindie before Campbelle departed for India with the West Indies team. The donation is intended to assist Campbelle offset her personal expenses during the present West Indies tour to India.
At the presentation ceremony, Secretary/ CEO of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Hilbert Foster, hailed the continued contribution of Metro to the development of female cricket in Berbice. He expressed special thanks to CEO Mr. Taejnauth Jaganauth and Lindie for their interest in the team and challenged Campbelle to make the Club and sponsor proud and to remain focused during the tour.
Ms Lindie, speaking on behalf of Metro, stated that her company is pleased with Campbelle’s performance on and off the cricket field. She stated that the donation to Campbelle was the company’s way of saying thank you to the West Indies star for making all her supporters proud.
Campbelle expressed gratitude to the company for their continued faith in her and pledged that she would represent the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and Metro with pride and passion whenever she plays for the West Indies.
The other three female Guyanese cricketers who are part of the West Indies female team on the tour of India are all- rounders Tremayne Smartt, June Ogle-Thomas, who is the only new face in the West Indies 14-member squad, and medium pacer Sabrina Munroe.
Campbelle and Sabrina Munroe were part of the successful West Indies women’s team that participated in the just concluded International Cricket Council’s ( ICC) Women’s Cricket Tournament held in South Africa.
