MYO Win Series With Transport
MYO Vikings wrapped up the 3-match series with Transport Sports Club (TSC) in unexpected fashion on Saturday after bad light stopped play in the third and final game, giving MYO a series win on a superior run rate.
The manner of the result was considered unexpected as the hosts, MYO Vikings, seemed set for victory in their reply to TSC’s 171-4 from 20 overs. However, the elements would have it their way and decree a 6-wicket win for the Vikings through a better run rate. The Vikings were 163-4 from 15 overs when the umpires called an end to the game that was made into a 20/20 affair after early and mid-morning rains soaked the MYO pitch and resulted in a 15:00 hrs start.
TSC opening batsman Devon Nandan hit 9 sixes and 5 fours in his 91 before he was caught by Kris Jugdeo off the bowling of Vivekanand Dalloo. Q. Bremner ended unbeaten on 51. The pair put on an opening stand of 143 for TSC, but even that was not enough to see them overcome their friendly rivals. Jugdeo was the top-scorer in MYO’s reply with 58, while Dallo contributed a valuable 38 and Skipper Ryan Hemraj 26.
MYO had won the first game by 115 runs but TSC leveled matters with a 45-run victory in their second meeting.
