Police, Albion Square Off
After a long delay due to inclement weather, the final of the 2013 Ramcharitar Construction Service’s First Division 50-over cricket competition in Berbice is now scheduled for Sunday at the Albion Community Centre ground.
Defending champion Albion will do battle with Police in a match which promises to be very interesting. Albion will be at full strength with middle-order batsman Narsingh Deonarine, leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul and opener Sewnarine Chattergoon all available
Add Jonathan Foo, Kandasammy Surujnarine and Gudakesh Motie and the hosts will start as sure favourites. Also in the squad are Guyana Under-19 cricketers, off-spinners Sharaz Ramcharran and Balchand Baldeo.
The strength of Albion will come up against a Police team that boasts no big name players, but a set of cricketers who are very dangerous collectively, having defeated giants such as Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets and Young Warriors Universal DVD.
To watch will be all-rounder Albert Sinclair, Michael Newland and Kwesi Mickle and spinners Rocky Hutson, Kurt Griffith and Andel Doris. Youngsters Clifton Lindee and Leon Andrews can also give the Albion bowlers some headaches.
The umpires for the final are Imran Moakan and Zaheer Moakan with Omadat Samaroo the standby. Play is scheduled to start at 09:30h on Sunday.
