Rain Delays Bartica Tournament
The weather continues to be a major challenge in the continuation of the historic Carib Twenty20 Flood Light knock-out tournament organised by D&C Promotions. Following a successful start to the eight-team tournament on Saturday evening last at the Bartica Community Centre Ground, rain has put paid to the continuation of the tournament ever since.
Two more games were slated for Sunday but were washed out as was the re-scheduled game on Wednesday between Central and North Essequibo at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground. That game is now set to be played at the same venue today from 12:00hrs while the Bartica Community Centre Ground will host the game between Bartica ‘B’ and Wakenaam/Leguan Combine from 18:00hrs. Semi final action will be contested tomorrow in Bartica.
In the two quarter-final games played on the opening night, Bartica ‘A’ sponsored by Hopkinson Mining survived a spirited challenge from East bank Essequibo to record a 1-wicket win booking their semi-final spot in the process. They will tangle with the winner of the Bartica ‘B’ Wakenaam/Leguan Combine encounter.
North Essequibo in the tournament’s opening game hammered Pomeroon by 7 wickets to also book their semi-final berth and will play the winner of the Central and South Essequibo clash.
