RHT Females Win RHTYSC Trophy
West Indies female cricketer and captain of Rose Hall Town Metro team, Shemaine Campbell, produced another brilliant all-round effort to lead her team to a thrilling 1-wicket victory over the Police Sports Club Female team, in a specially arranged cricket match at the Area H ground.
Batting first after winning the toss, Police rattled up an imposing 166 all out in 33 of their allotted 35 overs. National player Shimead Emerson top-scored with a well played 56 which included six boundaries. She received support from West Indies player June Ogle-Thomas who scored 15. Extras contributed a healthy 42. Bowling for Rose Hall Town Metro, Erva Giddings took 2 for 24, Campbell 2 for 33 and thirteen-year-old off-spinner Phaffiana Millington 4 for 15.
In reply, the defending national champions reached 167 for 9 in 27.3 overs with Campbell leading from the front with a brilliant 65. Her knock included 12 powerfully struck boundaries. She was supported by national opener Melanie Henry 21. Bowling for Police, Onika Wallerson took 2 for 33 and Jocell Joseph 2 for 6.
