Semi-Finals And Final Today
The first ever MYO/Raf’s 10/10 Inter-Jamaat Softball Cricket Tournament, which is being held in memory of Hajjin Zeleen Rafeek, is set to conclude today at the Muslim Youth Organisation (MYO) ground under lights.
This 6-week tournament saw 46 masjids from all parts of the country taking part. The 4 teams that made it to the semi-finals are Adventure/JC Masjid from Essequibo, Corneila Ida Masjid, Enmore Estate Masjid, and the MYO team.
The first semi-final will see Adventure/JC Masjid doing battle against Corneila Ida Masjid. The Adventure/JC team made the highest score in the tournament so far and it also includes the batsmen who scored the highest individual score of the tournament so far. Br. Muneer Amin scored 118 against Anna Regina.
In the second semi-final, Enmore Estate Masjid would go up against MYO. MYO, which is led by the experienced Khalid Haslim Bilal, will also feature some explosive batsmen who are in great form. The in-form Shaheed Gittens, who has back-to-back fifties, will be looking to add more to his tally.
After the final the presentation ceremony will take place, in which a number of cash and prizes will be distributed by the sponsor Br. Rafeek and the organisers, the MYO. Also expected to be a part of presentation party is the President of the Georgetown Cricket Association, Mr. Roger Harper, who is expected to adjudicate the Man-Of-The-Match winner in the finals.
