Shiv To Miss Windwards Match
After his stint with the Sylhet Royals in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Shivnarine Chanderpaul, will be available to represent Guyana in their clashes against Trinidad and Tobago next month.
Guyana Times Sport had reported on Wednesday that the left handed batsman would have been available for Guyana’s third round four-day game against Windward Islands starting on Sunday. However, this publication was reliably informed that Chanderpaul will not be available for the clash, due to personal obligation.
Guyana will play the regional T20 champions in the fourth round four-day game from March 6 before the one-day clash on March 12 at the Queen’s Park Oval.
With 146 Tests, 268 ODIs, and 22 T20 appearances, and a combined total of 19,817 runs inclusive of 38 centuries, Chanderpaul is the most experienced and successful West Indies batsman of the current generation.
Chanderpaul has also played 292 first-class matches and 365 List A games with a total of 33,981 runs.
Meanwhile, Guyana has suffered mixed fortunes in the tournaments. They won their first Super50 game against the Leeward Islands, gained first innings points against the Leeward Islands in the first round four-day game before suffering double defeats against Barbados.
