Terrence Armstrong stroked an unbeaten, even half century to pilot South Georgetown to an emphatic 8-wicket win over Essequibo Islands Secondary in another inter-district secondary schools Under-15, 40-over cricket competition at the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Queenstown, yesterday.
The right-handed Armstrong, who plays for Georgetown Cricket Club, hammered 4 sixes as his team raced to 89-2 in the 20th over, replying to the visitors’ modest 88 all out off 23.4 overs.
He received excellent support from Andrew Gibson, who chipped in with 18. The two also featured in a solid, third-wicket 34-run partnership as their team continued its dominance in this competition.
Earlier, Essequibo Islands Secondary were asked to take first strike and the Essequibians never really capitalized on the opportunity.

There was a contribution of 21 extras, which gave the innings some late momentum.
Armstrong, Ronel Dasel and Devon Lorde all bowled well to help dismiss the opposition with their bowling varieties on a responsive pitch despite the interruption of rain briefly.
The competition is being run under the auspices of the Ministry of Education ( MOE)/ GCB)/ NSC/ GTU, and is set to continue shortly at the quarter-final stage.
