T Chanderpaul Gives GYO Victory
Tagenarine Chanderpaul, the son of West Indies middle order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, was in top form for Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) when they played MYO Vikings recently. The left-hander hit an half century that proved to be a match-winning innings. Chanderpaul hit 4 sixes and 3 fours in his unbeaten 51, helping GYO to a 72-run win over Vikings in a friendly encounter at the MYO Ground.
GYO batted first and scored 175 for 5 from 31.2 overs. Chanderpaul received support from opening batsman Kwame Cross (25 runs) and Winston Forest who ended unbeaten on 39. Chris Jugdeo, who took 3 wickets for 16 runs from 5 overs, was the most successful bowler for MYO.
The hosts were then dismissed for 103 from 26.2 overs despite some resistance from Viveknand Dalloo who made 30 and Kris Jugdeo 24. GYO were impressive in the bowling department and saw two of their bowlers - Abdul Rahim and M. Barnes, grabbing 3 wickets a piece. Nannan had early success as he managed to remove the MYO opening pair of Ryan Hemraj and Frederick Pestano for just 2 runs.
