Dear Editor,

Softball cricket has been on the ascendency for many years now. It has become one of the most popular and exciting spectator sporting events in our country. Numerous and highly successful softball cricket tournaments have been organized, but none of these tournaments has exemplified the transformation taking place in softball cricket better than the recently hosted Trophy Stall Softball Competition held under lights at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Queenstown.

As the sponsor of this recently concluded tournament, I wish to express my appreciation to all the teams that participated. This tournament was held under the auspices of the Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA). It was a wonderful event which was played at the DCC ground which is now illuminated with permanent lights.

Floodlights cricket now has its own Mecca. I wish to personally express my thanks to the GFSCA and especially to Mr. Ricky Deonarine for the significant investment that he has made in ensuring that softball cricket can now be played at that venue under floodlights. I also wish to say that this just concluded Trophy Stall Softball tournament would not have been as successful had it not been for the great work done by Mr. Deonarine and the GFSCA.

I trust that other companies and individuals would imitate the generosity and commitment of Mr. Deonarine and would support the Guyana Softball Cricket Association (GFSA) in taking softball cricket to even greater heights.

Trophy Stall will continue to support softball cricket in Guyana as we have done over the years, not just by sponsoring tournaments but also through its support of its branded teams.
