The Young Warriors Cricket Club team have taken the final quarterfinal spot in the Tenelec Inc 2014 Under-15 Cricket Competition when they registered an outright win over Rose Hall Community Center in their final zone B (New Amsterdam/Canje) preliminary match.

They ended up with 18 points and runners up to Tucber Park, joining Blairmont Community Center, Bush Lot New Generation, Tucber Park, Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes, Albion Community Center, Port Mourant and No 72 Cut and Load, who all advanced earlier.

In the match, Rose Hall Community Center batting first were skittled out for a paltry 48 in their innings compliments of Berbice under-15 pacer Junior Williams who took 6 for 8 from 6 overs and Mahendra Parsram 2 for 10 from 7 overs.

When Young Warriors replied, their Berbice under-15 batsman Alex Algoo, opening the batting, held the innings together as wickets tumbled around him to make 70 in his team’s total of 112 all out in their first innings.

The next highest score was 8 made by Jamal Frank. Bowling for Rose Hall CC, pacer Gordon Schultz did the damage with 7 for 24 off 7 overs.

Needing to erase a first innings deficit of 74 runs, Rose Hall CC could only make 53 in their second turn at the wicket. Williams once again was the destroyer with 6 for 20 to end with match figures of 12 for 28 from 14 overs, the best in the competition so far, to help Young Warriors to an innings and 21 runs victory.
