Balchand Shivamber made his debut for the Guyana youth team as a middle order batsman in the 2003 regional Under-15 competition in the Windwards, including St Vincent and Dominica. In 2010 he played for Essequibo in the Twenty20 Inter-County competition. He began playing cricket while he was a student of the Anna Regina Multilateral School and later played cricket for both North and Central Essequibo.

In November 2011, after drinking with friends, Shivamber drank a poisonous substance and died shortly after at the Suddie Public Hospital. Described as a loving and caring individual, he was scheduled to play a 20/20 game the following Sunday. He left behind his parents and sister.
