Chandar Persaud played cricket from an early age and he could remember those he played with and against by name and match. An opening batsman, he remembered scoring his first first-division century in a Bristol Cup match for East Bank Essequibo against Bartica. He also played in the Northcote and Bata Cups, representing West Demerara for three years. He made his inter-county debut in 1985, representing Essequibo for three years.
Chandar migrated to the USA in 1989, having played his last cricket match in Guyana for Uitvlugt against the East Coast in a Hand-in-Hand final. In the USA he played in the Commonwealth Cricket League for Kent Cricket Club, with the Etwaroo brothers. He also played for the President’s XI in the Eastern American Cricket League.
