In November 2008 Gajanand Singh was at the center of a selection dispute between the Demerara Cricket Board and the Guyana Cricket Board, in which it was alleged that he "represented two different clubs in national competitions in the same year". His new club New Line Cavaliers of West Demerara was fined $50,000 and banned from Guyana cricket Board competitions for the rest of 2008.
