Orin Gordon was a pace bowler that made his debut for the Guyana Under-19 team in the 1977 Benson & Hedges regional yourh competition, in St Kitts (Windwards). He represented the Guyana Under-19 team again in the 1978 regional youth competition, in Barbados.

He made his first class debut for Demerara in the 1981 inter-county final, and represented Demerara once more in the 1982 final.

Orin started out in sports journalism in 1987 at the Guyana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and has remained in this field ever since. He left GBC to work briefly for a television company in Guyana, before pursuing studies towards an MA degree at the University of wales in Cardiff. In 1996 he started working for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), as part of the Caribbean Service team.

He later became a regular presenter on the BBC World Service and was working on his MBA degree in 2010.
