Left-arm orthodox spinner Rex Collymore made his debut for Guyana in 1964 (then British Guiana) against Jamaica, at Bourda. He took 4 wickets for 40 runs in the first innings in which he bowled, to start a long and distinguished career for Guyana. In 1965 he took 5 wickets in the only innings of a match between the Guyana Colts and the touring Australian Test team.

In 1966/1967 he toured India and Sri Lanka with the West Indies team but did not play in a Test match.

In 1986 Collymore was Guyana's national cricket coach.
