Sean Devers made his debut for Guyana in the 1987 Northern Telecom Youth Championship, played in Jamaica. A tight off-spinner with the ability to vary every delivery, he was most successful in his first year at the youth level, taking 5 for 59 against Barbados. Sean provided the variety and control needed in an attack often dominated by pace. His 8 wickets for 10 runs against Suriname in 1986 remained his best bowling figures.

After representing Demerara at the youth level Sean represented both Demerara and Berbice at the senior inter county level. In the 1998 senior inter-county four-day competition Sean took 13 wickets in 2 matches, a tally which was bettered only by Mahendra Nagamootoo. His wickets included 5 for 12 against Essequibo who were dismissed for an inter-county record low of 31 at Hampton Court. He was also a member of the 1999 Guyana First-Class squad.
