Lists of matches and more detailed statistics

Tyrone Etwaroo came from a cricketing family, with older brothers Romain and Reginald having played first class cricket and uncle Rohan Kanhai having made his mark internationally for the West Indies.

He made his debut for Guyana in the 1977 regional Benson and Hedges Youth Tournament, in Guyana. He represented Guyana again in the 1978 regional Benson and Hedges Youth Tournament, in Barbados, in which he scored his lone half century in youth cricket.

Despite this, Tyrone was part of the Young West Indies team that toured England in the summer of 1978. He scored 134 in the second youth Test, and 51 in the third.

He made his first class debut in 1977, for Berbice, while still playing regional youth cricket. He made his first class debut for Guyana in the 1980 Shell Shield, against Barbados at Bourda, when Daniel ran amok and bowled Barbados to victory. Despite a plethora of fine fast bowlers in regional cricket, he scored half centuries in Jamaica and Nevis that season.

In 1981 Tyrone scored 136, his first first class century, in Lahore for an International XI against Pakistan. His second first class century came in the 1983 Jones Cup, when he made 198 for Berbice against Demerara.

It was in 1981 too that he scored 220 in a record inter-county opening stand of 407 with Leonard Baichan, who made 187, against Essequibo in the Jones Cup semi-finals (not first class).

Tyrone played for English county North umberland in the Minor Counties championship from 1981 to 1983, and for Benwell Hill in the Northumberland League.
